About Dr. Lorraine Cassista - Personal Info

My husband and I are both chiropractors and received our Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. My husband maintains a full-time chiropractic practice in Dracut, Massachusetts (www.cassista.com). My first year of chiropractic practice was on my own and then I joined my husband at his office on a part-time basis, spending most of my time raising our two daughters. I still maintain my chiropractic license and attend chiropractic seminars, however, am not in active practice at this time. In 2001, I shifted my career to that of coaching.

I've always had a strong interest in the mind-body connection and have studied psychology (Bachelor's degree and post-graduate study) and self help material for over 25 years. Our emotions have a tremendous impact on our physical bodies and our health. I came upon coaching at a Chiropractic seminar in Colorado in 1997. Because of my long-standing love of dealing with people on a more emotional-spiritual level, I began to research coaching as an alternative career. I enjoyed practicing chiropractic, was good at it and it was a great part of my life. I am now engaged in a career that fulfills my passion of self-expression.

I love helping people in all areas of self-knowledge, self-expression, life change and following one's passion. Having made a career change myself, I understand fully the importance of following your own dreams. My focus in coaching is in personal development. Helping others increase their awareness and consciousness levels is at the heart of what I do as a coach to help them gain insights into who they are in the world and empower them to create the life they want and deserve to have.

I have many interests including travel, the arts, writing, cooking, and learning just about anything. I love the arts and have taken art courses, dance classes, acting classes and singing lessons. I am, by nature, an avid learner. It's probably my favorite activity. I love to read and also love to write. I have been writing a health and fitness column for the mind, body and spirit for our local newspaper since 1996. You can find some of my articles in the Articles section of this site. From 1996 - 2000, I was the executive producer and host of a local television program entitled, Healthy Living.

Laughter is great for the body, mind and spirit. Laughter not only improves mood, but also can positively affect your health. It lowers blood pressure, reduces levels of stress hormones, can help heart patients and those suffering with just about any other disease. Check out my article entitled, "Tickle Your Funny Bone". I love to laugh and have fun. One of the ways I engage in laughter is through Improv comedy. I belonged to an Improv comedy troupe for about 7 years and it became one of my passions.
